Diversity equity and inclusion have been instilled embedded in the soul of DMCP since it was founded in 2014. It will continue to inspire us as we serve the populations that we are privileged to serve.

We will continue to unilaterally support people in their gender expression, their sexual orientation expression, and their relationship expression while also continuing to track state of the field research for effectiveness and safety in treatment at all levels.

The staff of this practice will continue to reflect the rich diversity of our American culture. We are a safe haven for people of all ages, colors, religions, and cultures. We attend our clients with deep respect, love, and gratitude for the diversity of population, which has made this amazing country possible.

We are a group private practice of psychotherapists specializing in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy, grounded in Depth Psychology. We provide services to various populations, including LGBT individuals, transgender people including adolescents, couples of all varieties, and kink and polyamorous individuals and couples. Donna also works with active duty military personnel and veterans including those who identify as transgender.

Everyone at our practice is trauma informed and EMDR trained. Donna is an EMDRIA certified Therapist and on June 1, 2024, was certified as an EMDRIA Consultant.

In November 2021, Donna was awarded a Ph.D. from Pacifica Graduate University with her dissertation titled “An Exploration of the Lived Experience of CIS Women with Transgender Partners”. Her dissertation is available for free for anyone who would like to read it. You can download it here.

Our practice is an active participant in the Gender, Sexuality, Relationship Diversity (GSRD) Forum, a consortium of like minded therapists to support varied relationship presentations: kink, polyamorous, LGBTQ+.

Donna is a San Diego native who grew up in a military family. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy with a specialization in Eastern Thought and a minor in Religious Studies from California State University, Northridge, in 2007. Her background in religious studies allows her to authentically connect with clients from various religious perspectives. Mindfulness is an integral part of our practice both in our professional work and in our personal lives.

At our practice we approach the work with compassion for everyone we serve. We endeavor to meet clients where they are, without judgment, and assist them in creating and effectively participating in a fulfilling life. Donna’s heart work the field of psychology is to be a therapist and advocate for the significant others, families, and friends of transgender individuals, whether they are actively transitioning or considering it. She and her team are passionate about enriching and empowering the lives of transgender people and their families.

DMCP is an active member of several professional associations, including WPATH, USPATH, ICEEFT, CAMFT, and EMDRIA.
